Hey guys, I have a maintance required light comming on at me. I know it comes on at scheduled intervals, but it usually will blink at you for a while and then go off. Today it just came on and stayed on. Just wondering what other reasons it can come on for? I am turboed aswell and have modded a few things, but all has been good so far. I hit boost this morning passing a car and I felt like a hiccup or something, but I just figured it was just my tires bieng a little wet and not grabbing. I'm obd 1 so there's no way for me to check codes am I correct. Even so, does it only throw codes for your CEL? Just wondering if I should pay attention or just reset it? If I reset it will it mess anything up as far as any diagnossis goes? Thanks in advance, Ramsey.
It blinks slowly at first as a little reminder to do some maintenance on your car. It goes solid as you get very close/hit the interval at which the maintenance was supposed to be done. If you're just going to reset the light.... I hope you like your car enough to do the required maintenance.

It was already done. Just making sure, though. I know about the button, but I didn't just wanna go reset it without fully knowing that it wasn't because of a problem Thanks, Ramsey.
Quote from Owner's Manual:
This indicator reminds you that it is time to take your vehicle in for scheduled maintenance.
For the first 6,000 (9,000 km) after the Maintenance Required Indicator is reset, it will come on for two seconds when you turn the ignition switch ON (II).
Between 6,000 miles (9,600 km) and 7,500 miles (12,000 km) this indicator will light for two seconds when you first turn the ignition switch ON (II), and then flash for ten seconds.
If you exceed 7,500 miles (12,000 km) without having a scheduled maintenance performed, this indicator will stay on as a constant reminder.
Hope this helps.

There's no harm in switching; that's an old wive's tale. Go ahead and switch if you want to use synthetic.

If it's really high mileage like 200k or something doesn't synthetic break down carbon deposits that are sealing your engine with that many miles and cause it to burn oil?

No way in hell with only 50k on it. Your father is probably an american car owner.
