Default Which Turbo Would You Choose??? GT-K or Tomahawk

Well i stopped over at camp the other day and saw the new turbos that came out, and they look sick as hell, Toms new Tomahawk and the new GT-K, both from Turbonetics, but the GT-K is about 400 dollars more, its has a coating on the exhaust side, they are both ball bearing, and both have ported inlet housings, but just different style, and the GT-K as the new bullet nut on the compressor wheel. And both have V-band exhaust sides, wierd thing is the GT-K has a lighter exhaust side than the Tomahawk. The Tomahawk was said it was a lil bit bigger than a GT40R, but don't know the exact specs of the turbo since Tom doesn't want to let the cat out of the bag, but they can be made to customers specs, as for the GT-K it all depends on your power Goals since they are already premade to Turbonetics Specs. I will be going with one of these turbos very soon, just being a lil indecisive.

GT-K

Tomahawk

well money aside, I would say go with the GT-K, as it is more designed for your specific power goals... I know Turbonetics put a LOT of time into the development of these turbos, so Im sure you will be happy... Not saying that Tom didnt do his homework on his, but if I remember correctly, they were geared toward apps. where higher power/output is required, so probably wouldnt be as efficient in your setup....

Just my $.02 I could be completely wrong, just cant find the Tomahawk specs off hand...

So why use something that's supposed to perform as good as a Garrett GT turbo, instead of a proven Garrett GT turbo?

Why not? I guess it depends if you like to gamble. The GT turbos are tried and true, they've proven themselves with both performance and reliability. The new stuff has not, so that's a chance you're taking.

yea the Garrett turbo is VERY proven, but even so , both turbos have warranty if anything should happen, but doesn't hurt to try new things, but that is a good question, but also u would never know how new things perform, one could possibly be better than the other

Most people arent going to be the fastest like you tony. You have proven them but most people dont have the $$$ to spend $2000 on a turbo.

If you remember Ghostworks on Blew his motor on the dyno and pistons and valves flew out the turbo and blew his brand new GT-42R. was garrett going to give him another one for free..?? i dont think so.

Turbonetics is proven might not be fastest like you but its more economical for the street guys and the Warranty is proven. Tell Garrett to give you a 1 YEAR HASSLE FREE NO FAULT NO QUESTION WARRANTY and ill be on garretts ********

I build fast cars, if i'm going to buy a turbo, i'm going to buy the best performing one i can that fits the projects budget. If the big selling point on these is that when you expletive it up, they're replace it, then that's cool, and i can see where that might be important to some people.

ive seen the 72mm gtk makes some good numbers....i guess its just wait and see how it holds up. I can't see anyone replacing a turbo for nothing that had nothing to do with being the turbo's fault though...1 year warranty or not.

Sigh...all this talk about turbos gets me depressed that I generally scrapped my project...still have the entire kit ready to go...but nice looking turbos...I'd probably go with the black one just because that's bitching.

From what i've heard, they are very good about standing behind their no fault warranty. I can only assume that not many people make claims on that, because that can not possibly be profitable! lol

1 YEAR HASSLE FREE NO FAULT NO QUESTION WARRANTY

This is why i support turbonetics. If your racing and the car crashed into the wall its warrantied

If your street racing and it sucks up a rock it is warrantied
