Default 5 lug conversion on 2002 Si

I will have about $2000-2500 that I want to use on a brake upgrade. I would like to convert to 5 lug also. I've been looking for a couple days but I can't find a big brake upgrade that is also a 5 lug conversion. Anyone ever seen one?

you can probably do this a couple different ways ...

Upgrade to RSX Type S 5 lug and buy a Stop-Tech Big Brake kit for the Type S setup

or do what I did

Upgrade to (DC5-R) ITR 5 lug setup with Brembos

either option will more than likely cost you over $2500 ... I know in fact option 2 will cost a crap load more in end. Plus getting Honda ITR parts over here is a pain ... it takes time!

I think both options should work ... but you will probably save some money and time going with option 1.

http://www.jdmland.com sells full ITR/Brembo 5 lug swaps ... good people

Here is a link to my swap with all parts needed ... https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1780262

Enjoy!

What if I bought a kit for the '05 off of fastbrakes.com? What other parts would I need?

EDIT: Didn't see the end of your post. Thanks for the link

You'd need the knuckles with the 5-lug hubs from an 04-05 Si. I'm 99.9% sure the 04-05 Si uses the 32mm axles. For the rear, you'd just need the hub and of course rotors...everything else is the same.

Here's the thing though...it is far cheaper to just go with the RSX-S 5-lug setup and leave it at that. Even after you include the cost of new axles, you still come out ahead and you'll have 11.8" rotors (not exactly 12"...but close enough). This is perfect for clearing 16" wheels, which will afford you the option of finding cheaper/lighter wheels. Not to mention you can sell all the parts from the conversion and make up some of the cost. Besides, for the most part as long as you have a good pad and nice set of tires you'll be good to go (or stop ) in the braking department. I doubt you could really tell the difference between one of those big brake setups and the RSX-S setup on an EP anyways.

I'm was in the same boat...wanted 5-lug and a better brake setup, I took the RSX-S route.

good job posting the same info I just posted

and yes you will notice a difference between the stock rsx-s brakes and a "properly" sized big brake kit ... esp during use in track situations! I say properly because just having big brakes doesn't mean you will improve braking ... check out the StopTech website ... they do a good job explaining all this in detail.

http://www.stoptech.com/products/BBK/balance.shtml

and this all brings up a good question ... what do you plan on using this car for? daily driver or track or a little of both??

If this is going to be strictly a daily driver ... I really wouldn't waste the money purchasing a big brake kit ... you really won't see the gains on the street. The stock Si or Type S braking system is suitable for street life.

That's pretty much true. You'd end up with basically the same braking abilities of the Type-R EP3, plus you'll get OEM durability and parts availability (new rotors are as close as your local Acura dealer or Autozone, etc). There are even a few 15's that will still fit over the Type-S brakes.

I didn't even think of the 5-lug part; I had bought new wheels the year before when mine was still 4-lug. Considering the cost of getting the conversion plus stock RSX wheels, it was simply the cheapest and most practical brake upgrade -- got the whole thing, axles and all, for less than a single aftermarket front brake kit.
