Default Double Din?

Hey all. I did a quick search but couldnt find any hard answers. Is it possible to mount a double din unit (my AVIC D2) in a 99-00 civic?

If so, who makes the dash kit and where can I find it? By the looks of the stock unit & the pocket, the opening only looks to be 1 and 3/4 din not a full 2.

Thx

you should be able to fit it into a 99-00 civic but, you have to come up with something for around the very edges of the DD radio. it might be slightly smaller than the opening you are putting it into leaving you with a small gap all the way around. most aftermarket DD radios come with a small trim ring that takes up that little gap around the edges. however, sometimes that trim ring is also too small for the opening. you might have to stop at a local stereo shop to see if they have any other ones lying around that you can use.

Thx for that. Not too worried about a small gap around the radio. The D2 came with a really thick trim ring that hasnt been sanded yet so Im sure it'll fix any gaps.

Also, would the D2 fit in a 94+ integra? It looks like those have single din radios with a single din pocket?

Also what dash kit / mounting hardware would be needed for either the civic or integra?

Thx a bunch

it should fit either the 99-00 civic or the teg but you will have to figure out some way to mount it into the teg. it will be much easier to mount into the civic because of the metal brackets for the radio in the civic. you might have to drill a couple new holes into the radio bracketry but other than that a cakewalk for the civic. a little trickier in the teg.

you might also want to try the Pioneer ADT-VA133, which is the double din cage.
