it still amazes me that the ITR (and it was "only" a '96 spec) can put up such a good fight against GT-Rs, NSXs, RX7s, Porsches etc of the yore. the best part is that jdm spec Poopra (with the crappy ceramic-bladed turbos, smaller 440cc injectors among other things) couldn't even get past it

That course is heavily biased towards the strengths of the Type-R. Short straights, tight corners, etc. Still a great video though

I was talking to a doctor where I work...He has a '98 R and a Ferarri 348, and the R posts a faster lap time. Hotter braking and faster acceleration out.

Looks like it was raining or at least drizzling. It gives advantage to FWD and smaller hp car.

I agree. Tsuchiya's driving in the R looks really impressive, too.

 

Check out the lap times ... the ITR was right there with the GTR and the RX-7 Type R. Very nice!

That's definately Tsukuba in the first vid. The second Best Motoring vid in the rain is the Ebisu Circuit.

 

iono about you guys, but i wasn't surprised that the R hung in there in the corners exits (high powered FR cars couldn't get on it) or even the conrner entry (the R's lightweight + balanced brakes), but more so at the straightline speed.

honestly, i expected the 280hp+ cars sail right by it on the backstraight
