I have a 2000 honda civic si, i am receiving a check engine light for Idle Air Control Valve. Car Surge's like crazy rmps jump up and down between 800-1600 rpms. Car hesitates to go in first gear, giving off a bog feel.I have cleaned the throttle body but have had no luck. I have replaced the map sensor and again no luck! I need some help, before i have to take it in to a shop and they charge me for something outrageous.

 

have you tried swapping in a new IACV??

No i havent done that yet, do they go bad quite often? How much are they?? Is there any Diy on how to change one?I would like to do it myself but if it is in fact to complicated i will have to take it to a shop
