I bought the XTD stage 1 clutch with the 12lbs flywheel...
Looked Like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...sting
I installed this stuff on 10/4/06...drove ~6k miles and then the clutch wouldnt do anything. I had never been to the track, never been really rough on the clutch, never ride the clutch, never really do anything that I would think that the clutch would go bad.
IT DID...IT WENT REAL BAD!!!!
The clutch has NOTHING left on it, and when I say NOTHING...I mean NOTHING!!!! It is completely down to the Sheet Metal skeleton...The "clutch material" has completely sherreded from the clutch disk. All the material has been placed in a Zip-Lock baggie if that brings things into a better picture.
I am in the process of taking pictures of what the clutch looks like now...
I just wanted to post this to warn people to NEVER get one. I did a little research on this clutch before I posted it and saw some decent reviews...but I would NEVER purchase one!!!!!!!!!
I now have a Exedy Stage 1 clutch and this clutch feels much better than the XTD clutch EVER did!!!!!
XTD =
The flywheel bent on me and was not even machinable.

i wish you checked out those threads before you purchased, maybe you would have bought a stage three

I should have listened to my gut when i was looking for a clutch anyway...and got the exedy to begin with
damn good thing I didn't order that like 2 days ago...
that sucks man, I just bought an exedy oem and a fidanza 8lb flywheel for 270 shipped. I was almost going to get the xtd but i thought "maybe i should fork out the extra 50 bucks and get good stuff" ...........lol

There might be something wrong w ur drivetrain......the clutch is understandable.....but for the flywheel to bend, just dosent seem right from normal driving.
my XTD stage 1 with findaza flywheel, sucks, the clutch i have it for about a year now, and it slips time to time, i think its bald now

Yea I keep hearing that the stage 1 & 2 of those clutches suck but yet I haven't heard too many bad things about the stage 3 & 4 clutches.
I think it has something to do with their disc vs puck designs. You have any pics of the damages?

THAT IS RIGHT!!! XTD SUCKS!!!!!!
They use cheap material and I only had mine in my car no more than 6 months and the clutch disc was almost worn out! and worn out unevenly causing a whirling noise at 4k rpm and only 4k rpm. The 12lbs flywheel was not balanced properly which is what caused the clutch disc to wear unevenly. The system has lots of chattering but to some it up...they just suck!!! spend the extra dough and by OEM if ur even thinking about XTD!!!!!

Im going to be using a stage 3 with 12 lbs flywheel. I will let you know how it works out. I got it for cheap, i figured if it sucks i didnt spend much and would just replace it.
yea it seems to be only the stage 1 clutches with the 12lbs flywheels
also, i threw away the clutch when i took it out so no pictures although i should of

wow, that is really horrible, but i still say the stg3 is good. I have it with the 12lb flywheel and love it. Ive actually bought a second stg3 clutch cause i put a hole in my tranny and covered the clutch with oil.

yeah, its pretty bad...i dont think the clutch damage could be any worse actually..
u have to run a ceramic disk when using a lightweight flywheel like that....
u know dam well u were riding the clutch cuzz the fly wheel was way too light...
or just use the stock flywheel with that ogranic disk u got.. and a 2200lb or so, pressure plate..(?) anyways....
ceramic disk + 12lb flywheel...=
dont know about XTD... but I luv my ACT.

hey everyone...thats the problem with XTD, we cant drive a 5spd!!
ACT is on a completely different level than XTD...

to op: let ur experience be a good lesson for everyone else out there.. buying a clutch on Ebay is very risky business.. a lot of sellers on there may or may not be aware that their product could be a chinese fake.. they may know they may not.. but the bottom line is there are a lot of EXACT replica's on there that are made from VERY SUB PAR standards.. many are not even made from real clutch material.. your clutch appears to be one of them. You're very lucky that that clutch didnt catch on fire.. and melt your transmission or the clutch explode causing much more greater damange.
beware of buying clutches on ebay!

I have an XTD Stage 3 6 Puck. to be honest i am kicking myself for getting it after all of the negative feedback. i plan to boost this summer and when i do i am going to replace it with an ACT. just spend the money and do it right the first time.
