Default 01 Accord V6 Tranny Problem

Hey guys,

My D4 light flashes every now and then, also sometimes when I'm switching from park to D4 the gears change pretty rough at times. I got a letter from Honda Corp. and it said my warranty had been extended until 100k only for tranny problems like the D4 light flashing, gears changing late, and etc.

I currently have about 92k miles on the car. I already tried taking the car to Honda but they made me pay $90 and said they found no problem yet but would need to charge more for further and more detailed tests.

Should I take it back and get the test done and try to have them replace my tranny?

Thanks for any help.

I showed them the paper but they said if they do find the problem then they would reimburse me for all costs. But I had to pay the $90 and also I think an additional $140 to get further tests done to see if there really is a problem or not since they were unable to find anything with the first run of tests.

that seems wrong, charge you to test for something that honda has an extended warenty on...I would call honda of america and tell them your situation, im sure they will call that dealership and tell them what to do...unless however this is hondas corporate policy.

as long as you have it documented with the dealer that the problems started before 100K, when it does fail, you should be golden.

They told me exactly the same stuff.
They charge $90 to test your car and make sure this is tranny.

Don't let them play with you. Make them fix it asap and don't let anyone else touch your transmission except Honda.

Good luck.

I had the same problem. It would flash for some reason when I wouldn't warm up the engine???? And it wouldnt shift to 2nd until redline with that stupid jerking! -__-'' I had my local mechanic fix my transmission 3 times!! The check engine light and the jerking would randomly happen time after time. I knew it had to be a transmission defect. I drove that sucker for about 7 months without having my transmission REALLY TAKEN CARE OF.. UNTIL!! I recieved that letter about a month ago.. Had Honda inspect my car; found out my right front and rear(leaking) and left rear motor mount to be broken. SRS light was also on and a Shift malfunction... That's what I get for racing a SOHC automatic.. Anyways. All that, I didnt have to pay for. THANKS TO THE LETTER. BUT! I did have to pay for the rear brakes and rotors. My brake pads were at 1mm and rotors were undersized at 7.8mm

Not bad for only $307.05 (well to me its not.)
