Default ARP rod bolts

Project low budget.

B18c1 block
balanced and micro-polished GSR crank
oem gsr rods
CTR pistons
Omni valve springs
skunk2 Ti Retainers
S2000 injectors

I haven't made up my mind on what cams to get, probably blox b's
This is my first all-motor build, first build with this many oem parts too

Anyway I don't really want to get my rods re-sized as i hate having parts bored. Do you guys feel the ARP rod studs will be a very smart investment for my motor or should I be fine with what I am working with and OEM studs?

Kyle

OEM rod bolts are plenty strong for many applications. Unless you were heavily into racing I wouldn't say you should get them, especially for a mild street strip build.

Possibly rethink the CTR pistons because of their weight. Maybe JDM ITR and use the headgasket/mill head/etc. to tune in your desired compression.

I dont like milling heads or decking the blocks unless it is needed, you can only do it so many times.

CTR pistons in GSR block with B16 head will put it at about 12.5:1 thats not to to bad. I have a buddy with that same setup and omni flat valves and it is his DD, no pinging at all after some time on the dyno.

Rod bolt upgrade, is it worth it?

Do you really need to get the rods re-sized to install ARP rod bolts. I'm from the UK and I havent heard of people doing this before? Most people just whip out the old bolts and put in the new ones with lube and torque them up!

I would spent the $30.00 or whatever the extra machine cost and have the rods honed after the bolts are installed. Peace of mind. Or use oem.
