Default Random Tech HF cat. Anyone else?

So I finally FINALLY get this thing in after like 3 weeks of waiting because the place i ordered it from (ultrarev.com) had it on backorder. They seem to be a pretty good place to buy stuff, good customer service.

Anyone else install this thing yet? I wont have time til this weekend sadly, so I was wondering what sort of install time im looking at, as well as possible troubleshoots. I just hope I don't get the CEL of death.

If I understand the way the ECU and sensors work, chances are you will get a CEL by changing to a HF cat. I am no mechanic, but I would think the reduced back-pressure and change in exhaust gas mixture would throw the ECU into confusion.

Like I said, I am no mechanic. I am only commenting based on logic deductions on what I know about cats.

Random told me they only made about a dozen on their initial run for the SI, and those got shipped the day they were finished (I contacted them direct to purchase since they are only about an hour from me) You must have had to wait for the second run like they told me I would..

lemme know how the install goes.. I haven't bought yet, so it would be good to hear some feedback...

Don't forget to unhook the battery so the computer will re-learn how to breath with that new cat on it.

most cat related CELs are due to the temperature of the O2 sensor. They require a specific range to give accurate signal to the ecu. test pipes can sometimes cause temp related CELs since they don't hold heat the way a cat does. the hi flow should be ok though... I think

Just installed mine this past weekend. 2 spring bolts to the header and 3 bolts on the cat/exhaust side. Spray some PB blaster and use an air wrech on the cat/exhaust bolts and you will be fine. When you are unscrewing the 2 O2 sensor make sure to twist the wires at the same time. Just to be sure the wires dont get messed with. Also spray some WD40 or lube stuff on the rubber hanger, will make life alot easier, lol.
Right now I have almost 200 miles on the RH cat and no CEL.

What kind of difference do you feel since it is installed? Such as sound, top end power, etc...

Sounds meaner, little louder than before. From inside you hear more exhaust rather than intake from before. Feel a bit more power and revs a bit faster also.

Tires seem to spin easier now. Not sure if thats the new power or just driver thing. Squealed the tires in third.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I heard with a high-flow cat you keep good emissions. If you have to use the defouler, wouldn't that mean your emissions will no longer pass? Why not just to the RH instead. Thoughts?

when i put mine on, i didnt get a CEL.. it only takes like 30 min including jacking the car up... and i just took the RT HF CAT off like 2 days ago and can now tell a pretty big difference in performance.. i didnt notice the increase until i took it off because of the ECU relearning i guess... great product for those that want some of the pull from a header and want to stay legal too

For all intensive purposes you should, but what ca you say if the motor throws a cel? Either way it will be legal compared to a RH where there is definitely no cat involved in the header.

So, did you remove it to see the difference? Also, did you disconnect you battery to give the ECU a chance to reset with the new HF cat?
