Out with the old in with the new
I'm pulling out my D15B2 and installing my JDM D15B motor. I want to clean up my tranny and engine bay and paint them both. The car is flat black and the engine bay is light blue. Well, I bought some cheap Advance Auto Parts degreaser and I'm going to see how well it works because there is a shitload of grease and dirt in there. Also, the tranny came from a car that had quite a bad oil leak so you know that it is literally CAKED on there. But I was wondering what yall think the best way to degrease and paint this engine bay would be. I'm removing the old engine and tranny, battery, headlights, fusebox, moving the harness out of the way, taping off the master cylinder, removing the rad and condenser, spraying EVERYTHING down with this degreaser, scrubbing, and pressure spraying it multiple times. Then I'm going to scrub everything down with a brillo pad, clean it with soap and water, and paint. I'm really worried about this procedure because it seems like a real bad pain in the ***. Anyone have a better way to do this so my paint doesn't chip off in a few months? Any suggestions are appreciated.
