d16a6 no compression at all
my engine is getting absolutely no compression, it turns over fine, but it just spins freely as if there were no spark plugs in there, but they are in their. what should i look for to see why im getting no compression, the timing belt is on there and not broken, and is turning the cam in sequence with the crank, and the distributor is turning also, so it cant be a broken cam.
Could be quite a few things... Check your plugs; check your fuel pump and fuel pressure; check ignition coil; check injectors; need more info about car, motor, ecu... was it working before, or is this a motor you just built?

He hasn't stated that he has tested compression, so it's possible that it's not a compression problem. If it is spinning freely it is possible that it is not getting any fuel or spark. I would find it hard to believe that NO cylinders would fire. There would be some crank-up unless the motor were blown, and this probably isn't the case here.

so what do you think mine could be i have fule if you sit there and try to start it for a while you can start to smell fule and theres spark i checked

</TD></TR></TABLE>btw its FUEL :-)....take a spark plug wire off and put it next to a piece of metal on car to make sure its sparking...then check fuel pressure...also MOST the time its just timing(spark plugs wires not in right order)....did you put new timing belt on????just curious cause there is 2 TDC :-)

i know i just stated that i checked spark and theres fule no i didnt change the belt and i know theres 2TDC
so please nomore on fuel or spark

If you have good rings and the valves are seated correctly then compression testing should pass just fine. There are a few types of compression tests. If the head gasket is blown it will still crank but the blowby will pressurize the coolant and it will blow coolant everywhere, and also leak into the head where the cam is (noticable chocolate milk substance from coolant mixing with oil when you remove the valve cover). If it is just the rings, I doubt ALL the rings are bad and it would still crank and probably smoke a lot. If you blew all of these things, I feel sorry for you.
If none of the above apply, you are dealing with a fuel/air/spark problem. There are quite a few things involved here. I would check simple things first like plugs. You can check your plugs and distributor at the same time by removing a plug and leaving it connected to the wire (while not in the motor) and trying to fire the engine. If it is sparking, you know it's probably a fuel problem.
If it is a fuel problem, it could be the ECU, wiring harness, fuel pump, fuel pressure (regulator, line, rail, etc). Find your problem systematically.
If you know that there is fuel and spark, it could be a compression problem. Like I said, check for compression. You can lose compression in a lot of different ways; even holes in pistons, cylinders, valves, etc... That is rather strange I have never seen a motor do that. Like I said, I doubt you have compression problems, but before you go any farther, compression test. Even STILL, it is still possible that it is getting an incorrect amount of fuel or sparking at the incorrect time.

well i know the rings are bad but there not blown cus i took this out of a car that ran and ran strong but it did smoke some
so now that leads to spark-fuel right how do you check fuel pressure??
would it be form a dizzy timeing?? cus it has a new dizzy and wires but not the plugs.
how would you pressureiz your lines cus oviusly when i took the other motor out with many it lost pressure??
i have tried 2 ecu's(motor is a D15b1)(civic STD) i have the ECU and if its in the harness would it be like a bad ground
before the swap the car started and ran *sorta* and i didnt touch nothing of the wire's inside other than when i swiched ECU
so what would you recommend to do first can i use the old igniton coil from the old dizzy to see if that would help

**** i never looked in to that i will have to check tommorow when i get back form work and i will let you know
where should it not smell like its coming from cus as you can see i have no intake on right now and i think the smell is coming from there so IDK

If you have checked the plugs and they are firing your ignition coil is okay and
your distributor should be okay.
About the ECU.. is this a dual-point or multi-point injection system? If it's dual try a PM5... check the ECU code. If it's multi point use a PM6.

I was just thinking, if it's all being atomized and there is a really strong fuel smell, the fuel is probably not going into the cylinders at all, that would be just wierd and probably indicate your valves are out of whack? My head hurts from thinkin about all this. I'm better with my hands not my brain. *duhhhh mama says life is like a box of chocolates*

yeah not opening the intake valves, pooling up there maybe flooding the cylinders, but that is a stretch there would probably be some kind of popping going on...
my last resort would be to open the intake lid and exposing the top of the bowl where the screen is and pour a LITTLE gas down into it and try to fire it. I hate carburetors. I don't deal with them at all. If I were you I'd just swap that head to a multi-point head and ECU, intake; just grab you a harness from a multi-point car. All that stuff is relatively cheap. I have a MPFI head and Pm6 ECU for sale if you need it real cheap let me know. Try to get it started first before you make any rash decisions. Dual point is worthless IMO so it's worth the upgrade for just a little pocket change. I just had to do it to a CRX a few days ago because I wasn't messing with the carburetor to save my life.
