If you are refering to the jdm d15b sohc vtec head than in terms of compression ratio it will be just like putting on a d16z6 head and your bottom end is identical to a d15b2 or d15b7. that head on your engine with a metal head gasket (96-00 d16 headgasket) would put you at about 10.1:1 stock is about 9:1 go here you can calculate your d-series compression with lots of different combonations. http://www.knology.net/~jediklc/dcalc.htm

putting the jdm d15b vtec head on your engine will essentially be a mini-me, the new head flows better than your old one, and has much better cam profiles than your old head (d15b1's have a terribley weak cam), and a higher compression, all of the key factors to making more power. A stock d15b is supposed to make about 130 crank hp, doing this head swap on your engine won't get you quite to 130 crank hp but close as long as your lower end is in good shape, and you do the correct wiring and run the correct ecu etc...

Why does it have to stay throttle body? That would be the most retarded thing to do if you're going for performance.

Actually, I heard that if you run the P30 ECU and dizzy, that it really opens up the motor. I just bought a D15B off of Ebay and I was thinking of trying it. They say that it's supposed to make damn near 150 crank HP with this combo but you know what they say...you never know until you try. I'm sticking with the P28 (which is on the way).
