Has anyone had a dyno done before and after a complete Royal Purple lube upgrade? I am running it for oil and tranny. They claim as much as a 10 hp gain.

 

You don't gain power just from a lube job. If you see any difference at all, its likely to be just from the variance in conditions from dyno-run to dyno-run.

do they have proof that it gives 10HP? that seems farfetched

 

Lord wish I could find my dyno chart for my stealth, I changed the trans, transfer case, and both diffs along with the engine with royal purple and nabbed about 11 to the wheels.

Then again there is a lot of loss in the AWD system so there was a lot to free up.

Royal purple sells some pretty legit product, we deal with them directly here at the CBP garage to custom design lubrication for our vehicles and they do awesome work. They have cut our Chevy and dodge auto Trans failures down by more than 90%

They have tons of legitimate independent tests backing up there 5-10 HP claim over most major brand oils. Not to mention the protection there oil gives is phenomenal. If anyone is skeptic about it simply look into it a bit.

 

i use it to protect the k20 for as long as possible!

 

i would just stick with honda oil u cant go wrong with oem

 

there is a link to there website in the banner at the top of the page it has been tested and proven by multiple shows. i don't know about HP but i use RP in my ridgeline and i picked up 4 MPG

Wrong

Think about it. The Si is rated at 197 HP, but it dynos around ~180 whp, correct? Why? Because power is lost through all the moving parts of the engine, tranny, ect before it gets to the wheels. Royal Purp minimizes the friction between these moving parts better (subjective) than MOST oil out there. I can't comment for all since I dunno if there is a better one. Less friction = more power getting to the wheels.

 

So....which one for oil/tranny? Purple/purple or mobil/amsoil?

How many quarts of MTF does it take to change it? Also, what would an average service to change my MTF cost, purple or amsoil? (My first maintenance minder came on yesterday)

 

I have always used Redline. It is a true full synthetic(like amsoil) and it has always worked well for me.

when i changed my MTF it took 1.7 US Quarts, i paid $17CAD for a quart

to the op, this stuff is awsome, i don't know about actual gains but it is noticable. i noticed it mostly in 5th (non SI, i have an LX) going up hills on cruise i wasn't losing as much speed on steep hills the cruise was keeping the car right where it was supposed to be.

going to stick with it for sure...

for the tranny, did you put in royal purple synchromax or royal purple 10w30?

 

i used synchromax...it's in a tall round purple bottle

 

Does it matter which kind of RP MTF you use? I bought the one that doesnt show any kind of weight on the bottle but it mentions something about manual trannies that require automatic fluid?

 

I prefer Amsoil over RP, and any good true PAO synthetic will reduce friction over a dino oil or dino-based synthetic thus "adding power". I had problems with RP in my STi and WRX which were cured when I switched to Amsoil, and as such I won't go back.

On Hot Rod TV they got 9HP doing the complete Royal Purple swap, but that was on a Supercharged Camaro SS. HP gain would be insignificant on our Hondas but extra lubrication properties are good nonetheless.

 

thinking of switching over from castrol full synthetic to royal purple...would u guys think its a good idea? is there anything i have to do before i do that? and should i use honda oil filter?

 

im stuck between royal purple and mobil 1 for oil...im changing my oil this weekend too

 

I did have a problem when I was originally running 5w30 RP in my car, I've been using it since oil change number one, but I noticed it actually had trouble hitting VTEC... sometimes it would slump out on me. So I switched to 10w40 for the weather above 35 degrees, and it is quite noticeable the difference in the car.
