can you break the crank shaft and still run fine?????Beacause i got a real loud grinding sound coming from my block but i know its not a rod??could it be the crank

Your engine is knocking, its blown. Its highly unlikely you broke the crank, its forged steel. If anything you bent a rod or spun a bearing.
You break the crank the engine will not turn.
