Some of you all might see me post in the other forums, and know I am big into my stang. Well I have been looking for something I can play with and still be able to be drive daily, so lastnight I was out messing around with a friend, and ended up buying his 88' si off of him. The cars is all stock except for cai and exhaust. It sounds mean as hell, I don't know how the hell the intake sound is so loud, its damn crazy how good it sounds. Well, I also purchased a integra ls block from him, and am planning on doing the frankenstine swap. I know next to nothing about honda's and am gonna need lots of help with this. The only question i have right now is Will the intake sound like that with the b16 head? It sounds crazy, I have never heard nothing like it in my life. is the intake making the sound or the exhaust?? how much ya paid??

 

on the N/A cars, the intake has a very loud sound, but if you go turbo, it'll go away

 

my intake is louder than my exhaust

 

My intake cant be heard unless you floor it up past 5000 RPM cause i got no cat or resonator or hell a straight thru muffler

I though intake was louder then exhaust always

 

i like how the intake sounds.... its a cool hissing noise.

 

the crx si doesn't have vtec and its only sohc...with the dohc vtec frankenstein you'll have hear the sound change twice...once when the first cam changes the lobes over then the other (kinda sounds like when you go from mono to stereo sound...dohc vtec)...it's really really addictive...you'll be finding yourself just redlining it in 1st just to hear it

i've got an 88 si and the car only weighs ~1,650 lbs with me in it...i've got to get it weighed

 

uhm 1650lbs with you in it? so you're saying your car weighs ~1500lbs? what the hell did you do to it? does it have a motor?

is an AEM CAI loud? or annoying ? ........or what brand do any of you have good experience with the way it sounds?, cause i have'nt gotten an intake yet

 

I didn't notice any difference in noises to tell you the truth except a VERY slight whistle at about 1500 rpm, only really audible if you're outside the car. I picked up a little over 1.5mph in the 1/4 mile with it, though

 

My guess is it'll sound better once you put the B16a head on there. The intake will go crazy once you hit vtec. It sounds pretty cool.

 

dude! Did you buy the one in Delaware? I just called the guy last night and I was gonna buy it. Let me know, I'm curious.

 

if you like the intake sound than get a quite exhaust but aftermarket to retain horse, then yes, with CAI on a vtec car you will love the sound. My friend has a GSR (1.8 VTEC) and it roars through the whole RPM range with short ram and stock exhaust.

 

Thankx for the reply's everyone. Nope, bought the car in maryland. The intake sounds freaking awesome, not annoying at all. So the dohc head wil be even louder? Thats insane. Sorry about taking so long to reply, I have been away.

 

It's cool to see a V8 guy impressed with a CRX, much less purchase one of his own. Congrats on the new car, you will enjoy it.

Congrats on the crx. I have a crx si w/b16a and a supercharged mustang cobra. I get a ton of looks in the cobra, and a few races too, but everybody wants to challenge the crx! The cobra is so fast, that I have to really watch what I'm doing. But the crx is really fun to drive. Light weight, great handling, and decent speed. A blast! Good luck with your crx!
