ok i have a 1988 civic wagon, anyways i understand that the 88 trannys use a differnt clutch than the 89+. anyways when i bought the car the guy told me it had a crx si tranny but i didnt ask what year it was, now i wanna buy a clutch...how do i find out what yeah tranny i have??

 

i think that the 88 tranny has 21 teeth so any other # of teeth it is not a 88 tranny

take out your tranny, count how many splines are on the input shaft... if you have 20, its 89-91, if you have 21 splines, its an 88. go from there.
you are going to need to take your tranny off to install your new clutch anyways, just make sure you have a friend who can drive you to the parts store when you figure out what you need.
