use the 4.78 FD, keep the gsr 1.9 2nd, use the R 1.458 3rd and 1.107 4th, and whichever 5th best suits your purpose. if you do lots of hwy driving and need lower rpm, use the .714 ls 5th. if you need to pull harder in 5th at the track, use the .848 R 5th, or use the gsr .787 for a compromise.

If you want to change the 2nd gear ratio, you have to change the countershaft 2nd gear and the mainshaft. The 2nd gear on the mainshaft is cast directly into the shaft, and it can't be changed without replacing the mainshaft.
he already has the gsr trans, so gears 1, 2 stay the same.
with any tq, typically sized street compound tire and wheel combo, even the 3.077 aftermarket 1st gears don't do much to afford you much traction (with the 4.4 or 4.78 FD). the 4.78 FD makes it worse, but you're never in 1st long enough for it to matter.
for an NA B, you will typically grab in 2nd, even after some wheelspin. the wheel speed at a given engine rpm with the same wheel/tire, the 2.105 R 2nd gear and 4.4FD is about = to that of the 1.9 2nd when using the 4.78 FD, so you should pull about as hard with either. with the 4.78 FD and the 1.9 2nd, though, everything else =, you'll pull harder into 3rd, making a much more generally useful street/auto-x/rr combo.
if you make really good tq, and track a lot in 3rd - 4th gear, it might be more useful to keep the gsr 3rd and swap in the R 4th to pull harder from 3rd to 4th. remember, the higher the vehicle speed, due mainly to wind-drag, the harder it is to accelerate. gear accordingly.
