Can anyone help me figure out what this is:
Its left side wires hook up with the battery and the other end not sure, is it a device for an alarm? Tilt/shock sensor? company?
Thanks!

wouldnt it be too far away from the battery?? maybe i am wrong but ive heard it has to be within 18 inches or something like that for it to even do its job?.. maybe i am completely wrong but it seems like i have heard that before.. so if the battery was relocted then that shouldnt be in the engine bay still..

You heard wrong then. My battery is relocated. My battery fuse (which looks alot like the one pictured) sits under the hood.

Technically it will work either way, but really you want it as close to power source as possible, it's there to protect against shorts, which could lead to fires, so say your battery is in your truck. Something happens, and that short and it's sparks, and flames are going to travel all the way through your interior, and into your bay before that fuse pops. By then you might already have burning carpet or interior panels..
