Default Locking shift on 95 Accord

I have a new-to-me 1995 Accord (automatic). This started yesterday and has been happening since: I have to put the key in the "Shiftlock Release" to take the shifter out of Park. Is there a problem that needs to be attended to?

thanx, david

brake light switch is the master of the circuit; next there is a shift lock solenoid under the console that is the slave of the circuit.

What he means is first ensure your brake light switch is working. If it is your brake lights will come on. If they do then that's not the problem. In which case the solenloid is probably the problem.
