Default Cooling fan died. Considering FAL upgrade. Need advice.

Like the topic says.. one of the fans on my 2001 ITR died and I need a replacement ASAP. A new oem fan motor runs about $166 so I figure this is a great opportunity to grab some FAL fans.

The obvious question is, what's the flow rate of the OEM fan ?? Then, what is the flow rate of the FAL fans ?? Is there another competitive alternative ?? SPAL maybe ??

Please shoot your comments and suggestions. Also, places to buy or if you're selling one, LMK ASAP !!

Thanks !!

What about generic fans, save yourself like $200.

I haven't discarded generic. I can get those fans locally for a similar price and I very well may end up going that way. I'm really testing the water to see if I can go with some FALs for added performance and the o-so-needed bling

Also, the generics need wire spllicing and putting ties through the radiator, which is not a big deal but something to consider. Yes, I'm picky I know.

Lastly, assuming I go with 12" fans, the generics flow about 1550cfm vs 2000cfm for the FALs. That's almost a 20% improvement for the FAL.

What's the flow rate of the OEM fans ??

or this: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=936861

theres a point in every product type, where after certain price range you're not geting that much better of a deal.. when it comes to fans, it starts at $50

I've been happy with my FAL. Frees up alot of space.
It is a little noisier than OEM but moves ALOT more air.

FAL will even fit with a larger aftermarket radiator.

But it won't fit if you have A/C. I still have a FAL dual fan to sell because it didn't fit my Koyo/SPOON header/A/C configuration.

I was under the impression that the left fan worked just fine as the A/C fan. Thats what their literature seems to say.

Erik, who's curious about that answer to this.

dunno.
Both of my fans work for cooling only. I'm not sure if that would be diff if I had the AC still hooked up.

If I stand in front of my car, facing the engine compartment, the fan to my left side is the one that failed. I was able to notice the failure because a) the A/C stopped cooling and b) the temp gauge was showing hotter than normal. So, at least in my case, I am making it a point to keep both fans working.

On a side note, if the FAL fans are actually smaller than oem, why would this be a problem with keeping the A/C ?? Note that I am using an OEM radiator for the time being.
