JDM Front End, What's it cost to have installed???
Hey Guys, I got into a little fender bender with my teg and i was contemplating
on doing the JDM front.
Does anyone have a ballpark figure of what it would cost for a bodyshop to install
a used JDM front end? That would mean that any little dents or imperfections would
have to be fixed, painted and then installed.
Does it sould realistic to buy the parts and have installed for about $3k?

You installed the parts yourself, but arent you supposed to have the fenders
edged before install?
So the price for install I'm thinking could be anywhere from $1,000-$1,500.
Anything more than that and i think this project will be out of my budget.
removing the USDM radiator support and re-weld the JDM one on is the only custom work
that has to be done, right? Everything else will bolt-up?

I’ve done that, but it was last year. Prices would’ve been higher. And, I couldn’t recall how much I spent for everything. The Honda Fender was quite cheaper because they gave me a good deal. The installation should be done by those who are experienced.
Lets say the body shop has never done this conversion before,
but they are a reputable shop with years of body experience.
Would it be a bad idea?
I mean they should be able to figure it out, right?
Im also going to give them as much literature that i can find on the conversion
from the web.
I can't find any shops in my area that have done this, the only other thing would
be for me to drive down to NYC and that's like a 4hr. trip. Really don't want to do that.

It's really not a hard conversion. The hardest part is the radiator support, and I'm assuming if it's a reputable body shop, they're done their share of rad support replacements. If you are happy with some of the work they've done in the past and you feel comforable with them, then go for it. You can also provide them with info from Honda Tech on the step by step procedure for them to go about doing it and making their life easier. Guys have done the conversion in their garage, so there's no reason a reputable shop shouldn't be able to.

only "real" work is switching the radiator support.. its something a body shop does on a daily basis. they should be more the able to do this swap.. after that its just hanging the sheetmetal and bumper..
Mine was around 2500 for the install and paint. I got a new kit with a lip for 3500. So I have alittle over 6k wraped up in it. Its well worth it. I got all my parts from ICB motorsport
the price sounds about right, I installed mine on my old teg myself with no body shop experience, but did get some tips from friends. I just didn't want to pay the extra 1-2k to pay someone to put it on.

Whoaaaaa. 1000-1500 to install a JDM front end + welds, etc. ? Is that with paint for just the front end ?
That's ALOT - Here I thought $300 to do the JDM front was bad.
If you got a hook up its only about $100 around the So Cal. Removing a fender, bumper, hood and cutting the metal with tools takes like an hour tops ? It's the welding that takes long.
