Awesome, I just did the same thing (minus painting the bay) 4 months ago. You will lovvve the car with the H22 in it! I would recomend doing some wire tuck as well, I did the passenger side of my engine bay a bit, and like the look way better!

 

how long did that take you?

thanks for the comments. unfortunately i didnt do a manual tensioner swap. didnt do enough research about it before starting. yes, it is a JDM H22 with M2B4 (LSD) tranny. also, no wire tuck. as much as i like the way wire tucks look, i didnt really wanna go through the trouble to relocating a bunch of stuff. i'm just happy that my engine bay is the same color as the rest of the car now.

that makes no sence, too much work for nothing.

The Auto Tensioner is known to fail on engines with modified valvetrains and I've seen them fail on even stock engines. The H23 Manual Tensioner will not fail. Its worth doing for the peace of mind. Especially if you have the engine out of the car already. Its a simple procedure if the engines out, much more labor intensive if its in.

because the hydro ones tends to fail, and if it does fail, say bye bye to your valves minimal...

 

I will have to say I can se it failing on a modded car but ive never had an un modded car come in with it defective. CHange it with your timing belt, its only 75 bux.

This is untrue. the h22 is a noninterference engine until vtec. So as long as you are not in vtec when the timing belt snaps you engine will be fine.

The manual tensioner is no more work than the auto.

so if it does break in vtec, there goes your valves, how is my statement not true? ok now what if you have cams... what if you have different/higher comp pistons, theres a lot of things to take into consideration...especially once you start modding...i rather be safe with fail free manual tensioner, then taking chances with hydro....i would never ever run a hydo tensioner, but that just me.
