Default z6 in 99 EX, starting issues..

Quick Rundown..

99 Civic EX, OBD2b wiring harness, rywire OBD2b-OBD1 conversion harness. Just dropped in a z6, after blowing my boosted y8. Car wouldnt start. It has fuel pressure, but no spark.

It's got a new (re-manufactured) distributor on it. This is actually the second "new" distributor thats been put on, still the same problem. I tested the distributor plugs for power, I'm good there.

I believe the next step is to test the coil and ignitor inside, but if anyone has ANY other ideas, please let me know.

I will run the ignitor/coil test when I get home from work today. If its sketchy, I have a y8 dizzy laying around that I know works, so i might put it's guts into the z6 dizzy.

ANY other thoughts and/or ideas are greatly appreciated. Thank you for reading

Tony

Electrical problems are hard to find. You need to isolate a few circuits and run some tests one at a time. A good voltmeter, shematics and electrical background are a neccessity.

All electrical compenents ran perfectly fine before my motor blew. Dizzy is getting power as I mentioned.

I do have a bit of an electrical background and am confident enough to try some things. You probably know more than I do, please let me know where YOU think I should start.

All fuses are good

well like you said i would try swapping in a new cap and rotor. My girls y8 had dizzy problems this past week too, it was a damn pain dealing with it so i feel you. how are the spark plugs? take them out and check them? how about the wires? if both of these things have alot of mileage on them i would change them.

I have not tested for compression, but I bought the motor from a very reliable source and it was running 100% when it was pulled.

The compression however, should have no link in me not getting spark. Please

Everything is new, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, but the dizzy re-manufactured. SO, I took out the re-manned igniter and coil, put in my y8 ones, and still have the same issue, no fire.

Could it be an ECU issue? Maybe I should try a virgin p28?

Well, I feel like a dumb ***.. The battery was very low, and only giving a weak spark. Jumped the battery and she fired right up.

I've got an idle surge now though. The car will start and run smooth for about a minute, then once it hits a certain temp, it starts surging.

Thoughts? I had considered a vac leak, but it would happen all the time if that were the case, not just once it got up to temp.
