Alpine changer won't accept cartridge ???

Alpine changer won't accept cartridge ???
i have an older model alpine cha-1214 12 disc changer and a while ago i noticed that when i try and push the cd cartridge into the changer it does'nt lock it in place, its like some type of spring mechanism is broken or something wrong with the mechanism that locks it and holds the cartridge down in place.
anyone know of anything i can try myself to attempt to fix this little problem?? the changer is in good condition other than this problem, i just realised i never looked into it and have'nt used my changer for a long time but i just thought i would get on here and see if anyone had any ideas ?

dam your catching hell both ways, 
no cd or casettes. I say you need to send these units into alpine for a quick tune up
