Default rsx type s muffler on a 2000 civic coupe?

hey guys

my friend is replacing his exhaust on his 2002 rsx type s
i wanted to know if i could use his muffler
like go to a muffler shop and get custom piping to make it an axle back

right now i'm using a greddy evo2 exhaust
could i get the piping done so the axle back would be interchangable ?
could i use my existing greddy piping with an rsx muffler?
and would the rsx muffler even fit on my car?

any inputs appreciated. thanks.

anything is possible when it come to exhaust with some fab....the only real way to find out would be to go to a muffler shop so they car lift it up and see what changes need to be made...G/L i wouldn't put it on there

yeah, i'd rather just keep the exhaust as is, but pd around here is cracking down
the greddy creates too much unwanted attention.

i could essentially get the rsx muffler for free, which is why i want to do this.
thanks for the info so far.

the piping diameter doesnt matter?

as long as your not going from bigger to smaller, smaller to bigger is fine.

I have this setup on my 99 Civic Si. Fits fine. Just have the weld shop put it on. I can take pics if you like.

RSX type s muffler looks dope from factory. I will be putting one soon. It's nothing you can't handle if you have the right tools to do it.

crap. i have greddy evo 2 catback installed right now
the diameter is bigger than the rsx muffler, isn't it?

does that mean i'm not going to be able to use it?

I have a 05-06 RSX type S muffler on my EK, sounds pretty nice. Nice and quiet. You should sell the 02 RSX muffler and go with the 05-06 RSX type S muffler, it has a better air flow then the 02 RSX type S muffler. But up to you

I went from a greddy sp to the 02 rsx-s muffler
I put it on my civic coupe and it sounds good.
fitment wise- it fits ( I had them make new piping) and It clears my 13mm si swaybar no problem.

use your evo piping for the rsx exhaust...just get it custom welded on and you'll be fine. My roomate did it on his ej1. He used his apexi piping and just added the rsx axle back on. Though if i had a evo exhaust i'd be koo with that...haha

i really don't think it would be worth all the effort, does the rsx-s muffler have any distinctive tone to it?

i think its a waste of money

also changing exhaust piping sizes (bigger to smaller or smaller to bigger) is really restrictive.

just go get a stock looking muffler (spoon) or something of that sort

Just don't blow a ton of money on a muffler swap. You can do anything when it comes to exhausts. All you need is your measurement of piping (2.0'-2.5' is good for B-series) and a good welder. Also, make sure he does a good job on the support rods. Otherwise its gonna be rattling louder than your exhaust!
