Default Really cool JDM car dealer website!

I came across this pretty cool website that sells JDM Accords (and all other makes and models). It also has a real cool freight calculator, so you can figure out just how much it would cost to ship it to your home state.

I found a 1994 Accord for 332,000 Yen ($2,882) and another $2400 to have it shipped to my home city. A lil' over $5,000 all together...Not bad for a full on JDM right hand drive Accord delivered right to your city...Then you just have to deal with DMV and emmissions

EDIT: here's the link...Oops

two things....whats the site.....ad you know the $2400 just covers shipping fees....but you still have to get it through customs, i believe they charge money too. not to mention, the sellers might charge fees and im not sure but dont you have to have the car sent to a registered importer here, have them recieve it and all. i think its going to be a little more than $5k.

I believe Megaseth is correct. I think you have to deal with a registered importer.

You have to buy the car, ship the car to the port for export, ship the car all the way here (hope it doesn't get dinged up or damaged), go through customs, do some work to make it pass inspection, have it inspected, and get it titled/registered/insured.

It's a lengthy process but it is possible, and easier than you may think for certain year Accords.

like touring said, its mostly just paperwork and time....and $$$, but not entirely impossible. dont give up, it could happen. the only thing i didnt like about the cars is that they all seem to be just regular models, like our LX models. all autos, nothing special. even the coupes. if i was going to import one, i'd try to find an SiR 5spd....or even just a 5spd.

Yeah, I noticed that too...A lot of Japan's Accords are kinda "watered down" versions of ours. Like automatics with 1.8's and what not.

And this is kind of a noob question, but what exactly is the difference between a CD5 and CD6 Accord? I thought it was 5th and 6th gen, but after looking around, the two appear to be the same bodystyle.

CD5 = 5th Gen USDM Accord Sedan
CD6 = 5th Gen JDM Accord Sedan

edit:
also, just because the Accord you are finding appear to be "water down" versions of what we have here doesn't mean they don't have nice cars. The SiR is the highest model for the 5th Gen, it comes with a H22 from the factory. To find it in a 5spd is going to take a lot of patience and searching. Auto's are much easier to find in auctions.

also, I didn't even realize it, but that price for a sohc Accord auto isn't worth it IMO.

It's possible to switch the steering wheel to the left side, of course. I'd love to get a Honda Stream over here, but it's not going to happen (for me, at least) (the Honda Stream is a small minivan, kind of like the Mazda5).

I have spent some time in South America. In Lima there were a ton of white Toyota station wagons being used as taxi's, most or all had Japanese writing on the back. The story behind them is that apparently in Japan, to be a taxi at the airport the car cannot be more than two or three years old and for some reason all the taxis are white (kind of like how taxis are yellow over here, I guess). So once they aged out there was an importer in South America who brought them over, switched the steering wheel to the left side, and sold them fairly cheaply.

Anyway, people would buy them then use them as a taxi to help pay them off. To be a taxi, literally you just throw a "taxi" sign in your windshield, there was no regulation at all. When you stop a taxi you just negotiate the price beforehand but it was always dirt cheap compared to what taxis cost here.

sure, I guess, if there is a car here with LHD that matches the Stream. Then you could just remove the dash and cut out the firewall and replace the firewall, dash and that with LHD components.

I believe momstaxi is doing this with his 5th Gen Accord right now (switching from LHD to RHD). He's got a thread somewhere on it.

Edit:
Here is the link to momstaxi's thread...
