Trunk Layout *pIc Request*
^^That looks really nice! You did a good job
If you painted it all one color it would look a lot better but its not like it matters how it looks.

My custom wooden trunk insert. 1/2" high density particleboard, polyurethaned and wrapped in speaker carpet. This did affect the sound from the subwoofer because its thick wood, made the bass in the car louder it seems. I drive a 1996 Civic LX sedan with no sound deadening. Box is a 1/2" thick wooden non-ported sub box with a 10" sub and amp on back.

That is a trunk brace, where I made the insert, I cut a big hole in it to accomidate for the bar. The strength decrease of the wood is minimal.
Also, stock my headliner was bare, no sunroof. I added an Integra map light.

How do you keep that box from moving around in your trunk?
I have a similar setup and have tried a few ways of securing the box, but whatever I get to work, doesn't look good and whatever looks decent doesn't work.

Yes he did. And good lookin X brace Bryan!
The box is fairly heavy and with the carpet on carpet, it doesnt slide. Unless you corner hard, it won't slide. But I plan on bolting brackets to it and drilling into the wooden trunk insert (the original reason for making it). I may use the hinges used on jeep hoods, that style, or L brackets with sticks and holes with pins to go through so i can quickly remove the sub if i need to put something big in the car.

my '00 hatch's trunk, two 10''s in custom made boxes. These are for sale too if anyone is interested.

And with some grills to protect them from the crap that rolls around in trunk

I love the clean look about it. I like when the components are integrated into the car instead of just having a big *** box sitting back there.

I had the big *** box back there for quite a while. I missed being able to use my trunk to put things in, that was the whole reason for making my custom boxes.
