shifting sucks
Is it just me but when im on it and shift, the car feels like it hits a brick wall for a split second before it goes again. i tried power shifting and the same thing.
DBW or what?

Explain more about how you shift with clutch and gas. Maybe we can better help you with your problem.

I have actually seen the same problem with my car. I will start in 1st and get on it pretty good as soon as I shift into second the car lags for a second and then takes back off. i don't think its just a user thing guys.

thats if the car is ICE COLD.. to combat 1st and 2nd dibacle i go into 3rd and "cruise at low speeds"...= zero bucking or hesitation.

Learn how to drive
Could be a couple things.
1. I believe what your feeling is the MAP and MAF sensors adjusting your fuel supply when you change driving style (from conservative to aggressive or from parking to aggressive), the sensors send signals to the ECU and changes the way the engine performs, this causes a hesitation when shifting (usually between 1st and 2nd, and 2nd to 3rd). The way I understand it, basically the ECU gets confused and shuts the fuel off for a few 10th of a sec when shifting, which is enough to cause a jerk when your shifting hard. This should only happen once or twice (during shifting) until the ECU figures out what your doing and supplies the required fuel.
2. If your taking the foot off the gas when shifting hard, DBW shuts off the fuel supply for a breif moment because it is antisapating a non-aggresive shift. But if your power shifting and still having this problem, then this might not be the case.
Both of these "causes" were told me by different mechanics, so whether or not these are really true, I don't know. They did make sense to me however.
Moral of the story, it's not a Race car, don't expect the car to respond like a Race car when you drive it like a Race car. <-- This nugget of knowledge might be worthy of a sig.

nevermind your 06....it's just you.</TD></TR></TABLE>
Mine is an '07. I can see what the guy above is saying about the ECU being the case. Most times it happens, when i think about it, is when I jump on it to get around some ******* or just go from a non aggressive driving style to a more aggressive style.

Not to familiar with VSA but shutting this off won't have any affect of MPG or anything like that that i should be concerned with?

I do no how drive, i was driving a stick for 8 years so dont tell me i dont no how to drive, please. and yes i was power shifting the car and it still does it, it seems like the tires what to spin but it just gives a little chirp then thats when that lag come in.

power shifting is no chirp. maybe in 3rd gear yeah...i feel no lag at all when i powershift..just wheel spin maybe a little wheel hop but thats about it...no lag at all..thats the only way i found to get around DBW.

So back to my orginal question when you shift from 1st to 2nd gear where do you land RPM wise and then where do you land in 3rd, wonder if you landing barley on vtec cross over
So back to my orginal question when you shift from 1st to 2nd gear where do you land RPM wise and then where do you land in 3rd, wonder if you landing barley on vtec cross over
To the OP --> from 1st to 2nd @ what RPM range do you shift from and @ what RPM range do you land in when you shift into 2nd (as others have asked before)??
Also, do you fully step on the clutch all the way down to the floor or 1/2-3/4 all the way in just enough for the gear to engage?
I'm not saying you don't know how to drive, but I find it quicker to shift if I press the clutch enough for it to grab the gear.

my car was lagging something awful when i went to the track the other night, and the biggest problem was second gear rpms dropping below 6k after i shifted as quick as possible. i dont know why it was doing it, but it did it just about everytime. the car was warm for every pass, and it did it almost each time i went down. i dont know what it is, but i ahve to take it easy on my 2nd gear now because even with the new synchros it still sucks. good luck and just keep working on it
