Default Should i buy a Del Sol?

I have had EF hatchs, Sedan, and currently i have a 94 coupe. i was looking at the del sols recently and they seem pretty good for summer. the pros that i can think of is:

1. hard top convertable, people cant stab your roof
2. cheap convertable that i dont have to spend alot of $$ on
3. saves alot of gas, and its similar to my civic so i know how to do swaps and stuff

cons

1. its a girls car to many people
2. seats 2 people
3. have to manually take off and put on roof

what are the experinces that del sol owners have? im considering it becuase im planning to move to philly, and the summers are hot over there. i would imagine how nice it would be on a hot summer day and the roof is off, and the back window is off and crusing at 70 mph at night

to add to your pros list:
4. Cheap on insurance. They classify this car as a civic.
5. Just as easy to find parts as a civic.

my experience with my del sol is a really great one. I love the car. Top down even when its cold. Heater and Top off = a really great drive. Yes people say its a girls car but why? It isn't that much of a pain to take off the roof. I like 2 seaters only cuz people can't ask me for rides and crap. Plain out I love my del sol

I also have a 95 del sol vtec and I am very happy with it. The only thing I hate is you have to take off the roof by hand lol but thats something small. Also insurance is not cheap for it (well not in canada) they consider it a sports car and its $3200 a year !

Also another downside is people think its a chick car but I don't really give a f*ck..

Nah I like it down here plus its rare to see a del sol on the streets around here (specially the vtec trim) there not as common as a civic.

I guess the advantage to owning one is the fact that not everybody has one, so when you're rolling down the road you might get a little respect.

i guess i will look for one. the east coast rust is the thing that im worried about, but the cars by philly are cheaper than most places in the u.s. they range about 2,000 to 3,000 for a 93 with the D15b7 (craigslist)

also i want to ask with the top off, does the handling get alot worse than with the top on?

All I have to add, is to drive it with the top down, even for a test drive. You'll be hooked just like the rest of us. Right now my neighbor of 65 is driving one and I own 2 but one is on the verge of resurrection.

Dude, Once you go Del Sol you will never go back. And if they are chick cars, why is it that dudes always own them. Because Chicks like them! Beaver trap for sure with a custom JDM Sol. I'm on my second Sol, and I love it!

dude i love my delsol with a passion. the reason i like it is cheap on gas, did an easy swap with the b18b1,roof is not hard at all to take off, and i through the 2000 si front end on it. alot of people give me props when i pull into stores and other places. and to get things straight its not a chick car. the only reason they say that is cuz you can only have one chick in the car with you at a time but thats all you need on a long road trip lol. go get one dude

Another vote for the Del Sol i havea 94 SI and i love it,a plus is not everyone has one which is cool.I also added front and rear strut bars and it took out all the chassis flex ,much better than without them.
