am having a tough time which civic to pick
alright so am tryin to choose from either the 92-95 eg hatchback, the 96-2000 hatchback or the 96-2000 coupe i will most likely put in a 1.8 type r motor since the k series is some serious cash right there and i dont have the funds the type r motor will be a all motor built i just want to know if all three cars will run the same time. because i got a front of a 2000 civic coupe so if i buy a 96-2000 coupe i will have some spare parts if anythin should happen to the front of the car. if you people have any question feel free to ask
personally, i would go with a eg cx hatch. lightest, and you can find em for under 3k in mint condition. and if your going to go with a full out all motor build, i wouldn't waste money on the type r. go with a b20/vtec, a gsr, or an ls/vtec. cheaper, and once you start building, the type r won't make any difference (unless you wanna say i have a type r, but thats just stupid.)
Personally, Id go with a 96-98. if you have the front end from a 00, then get a 99-00 cause the front ends change from 96-98. I myself like the Ej's.
And with an All motor Type R build youll walk K's all day.

If you want lightweight + speed = hatchback.
I have a 97 civic coupe and wouldn't trade it for 2 hatchbacks. It's both a matter of personal preference and what you'll use it for. Mine's a coupe so it's still light-weight but I love it.
The newer the car you buy, the easier it will be to do certain things. Just remember that.

all right thanks for the info the eg hatch n the coupe are some sexy cars so rebuilding the type r motor will be just plain stupid then since am changing everythin inside the engine
sorry for these stupid question since am new to these kinda stuff never really had anyone teach me about hondas
so wat will beat an all built type r either the b20/vtec, gsr or the an ls/vtec am thinking the b20/vtec since it has a bigger displacement correct me if am wrong

Actually newer car=less rust, less problems with finding parts availability, especially OEM ones.. Just a few things. This is just generally speaking.

yeah i agree about the rust-free part. but some of the new car parts may be easy to find, but they would most likely be more expensive as opposed to ripping an EG part from a junkyard.
but back on topic...
i'd say go with the ls/vtec, i just love em

so has a b20/with the type r head has it been done before since the type r head i heard its a very high flow head plus its a head that rev around 7500 to 8000 am not to sure
not on the list but Id get a black 92~95dx coupe and swap it...dx coupe weighs about the same as the 92~95 Si hb...I think coupes look better but a CX 92 hb is the way to go for best HP to weight Ratio

Eh...im going to say it makes too much of a difference. C5's have a mild factory P&P.

don't worry about getting the type r head unless its cheaper than a gsr or b16 head. i personally would do a build like this:
b20 block
sleeved
arp rod bolts
eagle h-beam rods
arias high comp pistons
new acl bearings
b16 head
port and polished
skunk2 pro2 cams
crower springs/retainers
new valve seals
skunk2 camgears
400cc injectors
rage header
custom 2.5" exhaust
aem cai
passwordjdm intake manifold gasket
skunk2 intake manifold
tune the crap out of it and make WELL over 220whp

Just look at each of them in person and make your OWN decision. They are all good cars if done up the right way. Ive owned an eg hatch and currently have 94 & 98 civics and love both body styles. The hatch will probably be the fasters all motor, but its pretty much up to you and how you want to biuld the car.
i think you guys missed understood what i wrote out of the three body styles just wanted to know which will be quicker with an all motor set up so i guess the eg will the quickest then i want to get tha eg badly but my dad keeps sayin since we have the 2000 front of a civic he wants to get the coupe since no ones want to buy the parts
sorry if it sounded like for you guys to make a choice for me for which honda to get just tryin to find ou which will be best so i dont be slow also both hatch i liked them since they got alot of jdm goodies but the coupe doesnt
alright so this guy told me to buy a b16 or gsr motor n just boost it and make 300+ on stock internals but would it stand new york city and also would it give me good mileage?
