B16 trannies are for acceleration and gsr trannies have more top end... if i was in that situation i would get the gsr tranny because there not that bad off the hole and they have higher top end then B16 trannies

Is the tranny free? What do you use your car for? What kind of car do you have? Are you doing the labor yourself? Maybe just put some syncomesh in that sob and fix the grind? Less of a headache.

Absolutely. You should give us no information beyond the subject line and it grinding, and just go ahead and put in the B16A tranny. Makes the most sense.

What kind of car is this going into?

And you can look up the god damned ratios elsewhere. Start at Lo-cash.

Having some trouble with slashes today, are we? ;p

It could well be something other than a Civic or CRX, I've seen s2000 drivers bumble in here.

the b16 is geared alot shorter. you will be sittin around 4500 at 80mph on the freeway. i had to swap in a gsr tranny because broke the case on my itr trans (rear motor mount broke and shift linkage got ripped out of the trans)
and now it sits at around 4 grand. feels a bit slower, but its nice for cruising

1,2 and 3rd gears are the least of your worries. I would be more concerned with 5th gear on the freeway goin 70 and reving to 4500

What kind of S2000 driver comes into an ef forum saying should I trade up my gsr tranny for a B16?

lol beat me to it...
but yeah i have a b16 tranny on my jdm gsr i like it... super fast out the whole 4500 is a 80 on the freeway but hey i need to stop geting ticlkets anyways... top speed on my car was around 150 give or take with redline at 8500 so if u ask me i think this tranny is great when do i ever need to go over 150? and i need to stop driving over 65 on the freeway and i love the short gears great for drag racing all in all this tranny ended up being perfict for me but idk might not work out like that for u... and gm synchromesh does do wonders on grinds

You're both daft. I've seen worse on here. Search around for large post pages with mispellings. There's a recent one titled someone screwed my motor. Or some such.

Syncromesh doesn't really fix the grind at all, it's just made to allow work synchros and **** like that to "mesh" easier. Your tranny will still be fucked, you just won't be able to hear it, lol.

i tried the synchro mesh and the grinds are gone. i will swap in the b16 tranny tomorrow to see how it is. i read a lot of threads and i think everyone likes b16 tranny next to the type r tranny. willl keep u guys posted on the swap. btw, any b16 tranny came stock with lsd ? maybe ctr?

Totally use the CTR. There is no difference between hydraulic and cable, no matter what anyone tries to lie and tell you on here.

so it allows the synchros to mesh easier, so it doesnt grind anymore but it doesnt fix the problem? im confused.
