how interchangeable are distributors?

Hello, Today I got a code 8 and the best recommendation is changing the distributor. My engine is a DOHC ZC motor, so will any distributor off a regular 1.6 civic 88-91 work with it?

SOHC won't work. You need a dizzy from a 88-89 Integra.
