Whats the little grey/black connecter for in a 1996 Honda civic DX im so lost! connecting wiring bac
I recently had to remove the dash out of the car and remove all the wiring and unplug eveyrthing...
Now im putting it all together and i cant seem to find where this connecter goes...
Its a little Grey connecter on the drivers side with 8 pins on top and 8 on the bottom. Everything is plugged in i have no clue where it goes...could it be the thing you plug into a computer when you check what your check engine means? Its not from the dash either...so maybe it was always unplugged...
What could be the problem.
I have a 1996 Honda Civic DX 2 Dr Coupe.

Can you take a picture of it? The OBD2 service connector is a female connector in a trapezoidal shape.
Here it is

Yeah, thats the OBD2 service connector. I believe it normally mounts on a little bracket up above (and slightly behind) the hood release lever.
actually, in your picture, you can see a square hole in that rusty bracket. It goes in there. The pins sit vertical (aimed at your floor board)
