EG Hatchback with a Comptech Sway/Tie bar combo - please help
I started installing this and it appears that my exhaust (thermal) is not going to clear it. The sway bar is more important to me than the exhaust so I'm wondering...
Are there any EG hatch owners out there with this sway bar? What exaust are you running to clear the bar?
thanks

The best idea is to try to bend the hanger that hold the muffler so that it holds the system higher up to allow clearance for the sway bar. Good luck!
I got Tenzo rear section back. It fit pretty nicely, and the exhaust comes with a silencer in case you need it.
Ok, everything is installed and bolted down. It's definitely not working. There's a lot of weight laying on the bar. If I run it like this it'll rub through the bar in no time. Adjusting the hangers isn't going to provide enough clearance.
Cinq... are you saying you have both the Tenzo axle-back AND the comptech swaybar/tiebar combo?

Go to a muffler shop, they will have to chop up yur piping, but im sure they can bend up some piping, and divert it all away from the bar...I didn't know comptech made a swaybar/tiebar combo for EG's...i think i might have to look into that. What bar are you running in the front? Does the comptech bar have anything to prevent subframe damage? If you reply to this post, please PM me so I see it. I was gonna go with the beaks ITR sway kit...but maybe ill go comptech instead..
They label the kit as being for the Integra, but the EG is the same chassis.

As you can see, there's plenty of reinforcement. It's gonna run more than the Beaks kit or BSQ kit and an ITR bar, but on the stiffest setting it's actually a tad bit firmer. Anyway, I don't really want to get the exhaust hacked up. I had a bad experience with the last muffler shop I went to. I think I could sell this one, buy a new one (If I can figure out what works) and come out fairly even. I've got a message in to Comptech to see what they say.

Nice setup Jeffs.. I myself am still debating on which swaybar application to go to next.. I remembered back when I had my accord I had the same problem with suspension techniques swaybar not clearing the exhaust.. Just went to a shop and they said that they could just bend the piping a different way yet still keep functionality..
BTW, where and for how much did you get the Comptech for/from??
I will most likely be heading back down to NC soon myself as well, Winston Salem areas...

I run this set up on my '95 EG and my '95 del sol si. I'm using a spoon axle back on the hatch and I have no clearance problems what so ever. The exhaust is exactly one inch to the side of the joint thingy and even under acceleration it has never hit anything down there.
Some exhausts fit better than others... unfortunately they seem to be the more expensive ones like Mugen or Spoon. I would ditch your current exhaust and get something made specifically for you (custom) or one of those I have mentioned. Don't do a hack job and start bending hangers on your car. If you really have to, bend the crap on the exhaust.
