Default An actual Vtec question

Alright. I have a 98dx (ej6)
Originaly had a y7
Swapped 99 y8 into car because of y7 spun bearing.
I hadnt done the swap. A friend did it.
At the time i didnt have an ECU for the motor just my y7 one.
couldnt use the donar car one cause of it being OBD2b
I bought an Ex ECU from a 96-98 Ex instead of the jumper harness. (cheaper)
Now im not sure if he used the wiring harness from the 99 motor or not but Vtec was never wired. I took a few pictures. ive looked at a few pictures VIA google images.
From the pictures it looks like im missing something.
If the 99 harness was used vtec would be plug and play with correct ecu?
If my 98 harness was used what has to be wired for vtec?

Looks like he just reused your old wiring harness.
If you have the Vtec ecu in the car you need to run the wires from the ecu to the plugs.
Unless you have a vtec harness.
If you do just put that on the car and you should be set.
Unless the firewall plug doesnt have vtec on it.
I dont really know on those year models.

He wouldn't have gone through all the work of changing the entire engine harness. All you have to do is get those two plug connectors from the junkyard and run them through the grommet below your battery and then pin them to the ECU harness.

Those plugs are used on multiple sensors. I think the coolant switch is the same as the vtec oil pressure switch.
