high idle= scratching?
Hey whats up all...i noticed when i start my car up in the morning its starts up at 2400-2600rpm for about 4 seconds or so, and then drops to 2000and warms up and brings the idle dwn to normal. The problem is when it first starts...i hear a scraping/scratching sound(like the cam touching the metal cap)..like a dry start without enough oil(only for about 1 second). I checked the oil its fine. any ideas. Or how can i bring that initial start to a little lower rpm?
Mainly the idle is controlled by the ECU, then different parts on the throttle body. I would forsee any adjustments to the throttle body making the idle a little wacky.
It would be cool if you could make a quality sound bite of this scratching noise. From my own experience, the valve train is always noisy when first started until the engine has properly warmed up.

what part of the world do you live in? and what are the outside temps at the time? also, what brand/weight motor oil do you use?
either way, i woudn't worry too much about how it sounds during startup - it is what it is.. if it still sounds like **** once its warm then you got problems.

Ok so i will just leave it be.. i am using castrol 10-30 and its warm outside all the time when i start the car. Once it comes to 2000rpm, and wrks it way dwn as the motor warms up it sounds fine.
i will see if i can get a quality sound clip of it.
