Default GT4294 or GT4202

I was checking for some feedback on the two turbos and which one you guys are running and what the difference between spool and power are on the two...

I'm finding very little information on the 4294. Anything info on this turbo especially would be nice.

thanks
Andrew

are you building the car for a specific class?

4294 is good for about 850 or so. i made 859 on it. 4202 will get you in the tripple digits

idk about on a honda, but on a supra its around 500 rpm slower, and teh 4202 is not quite a 1000 hp turbo.

be a man and put a 45 or a 47 on it

If a 3567 spools like a 35r, then both the 4294 and 4202 should spool the same, right? lol

AMS cracked 1000 on the GT4202R. I believe they also claimed that there was no difference in spool compared to the GT4294R. I think they made 840 on the GT4294R. Major changes to break 1000 WHP included a cam swap and the larger turbo.

A friend should have his STI back on the dyno in the next couple days though. He previously had a GT4294R on it.

That blog is not up to date. At the time, the car was running a stock sleeved, stock bore 2.5L.

It will not be that great of a comparision though, as the previous manifold was undivided and we were limited to a 3bar MAP and 1000cc injecotrs. Going back this time, it will have a 2.6L sleeved motor, the larger turbo, divided manifold, 5bar MAP and 1600s.

It does give a good idea on spool though, if you are building roughly a 2.5L motor. The car was actually impressively responsive on the street. 4500 RPM and on had plenty of power. 6000 RPM was enough to break all four 255wide BFG KD tires loose on the freeway at 90mph in 4th.

What .AR were you guys running on the 4294 that seem to be working well on the 2.0 litre motors.

i didnt read but heres the difference between journal and ball bearing for the hell of it...4294 that is...both made 827whp with little difference. thats why i went journal this time around. the dip in the red pull is wheel spin. BUT you probably already knew that so screw it...lol.

I would think the 4294 would come on a good deal sooner over the 4202, its a 70mm vs a 74mm right? Thats a fairly decent jump in size. When are you getting 30psi Tony, ~5500rpm or so? Thats on a 2.0L w/ a 70mm correct?

Is that with normal street load or on the dyno?

That STI comes on boost on the street almost 1000 RPM sooner. The dyno was ran with no additional load from the eddy current loads.

No no wait a second, thats not the real reason you went with a non bb 4294. Its because you focked me over when you sold me the garbage 4294R..

Just want to add that correction in Thanks.

Please resume a good thread, sorry to bother!

Well, the money he stole from you would only buy him the journal bearing 42, so he went with it. How is he still even around here?

Anyways, mine is with a 1.28 a/r

28psi by 5500rpms, and a 10.8k redline, i'd say it's a pretty usable power band!

Tial makes some nice CNC stainless flanges for numerous turbochargers. Forced Performance sells them. I believe they are $35 a piece.

I AM NOT GOING THRU THIS **** ANYMORE WITH YOUR PUNKASS. I sold you a turbo that NEEDED TO BE REBUILT AS IS !!!

Morale of story...stop your ******* crying/bitching. You knew it needed all those new parts. I TOLD YOU UP FRONT *** CLOWN. I even went as far as posting pics on here to ask others opinions of what I should do. Do I have to pull the god damn thread up for you?

Now STFU and stop your bitching kid.

One more thing....I purchased the journal bearing instead of spending 1k more for a ball bearing that spools 300 rpms quicker and no hassle with coolant lines....WHICH 99% of racers dont hook up anyways.

Dude...Im done with your ***...you KNEW WTF you were buying so just ******* own up to it.
