Default Stock Muffler

Is there a difference between the 02-04 and 05 and up rsx type S muffler? I am getting a very good deal on a 02 muffler and would like to know any difference between the new ones. This will go in 97 ek hatch. Thanks

05-06 Type-S exhausts is more free flowing. Plus it looks a lot nicer. I'd get something other than the 02-04, like an 05-06 or after market.

Looks like it's after market(that's what few thought of mine)
05-06.

02-04

the 02-04 is alot smaller ... you wouldnt gain much even if you got a type s ... the 05-06 on the other hand would actually give you some gains if your exhaust is smaller then 2" - 2 1/2 " ... but if you want a better sound out of it ... you might want a smaller baffle ... the stock 06 type s has a pretty big baffle ...

If you're putting it on an EK, what motor? If stock motor then an 02-04 exhaust will be an improvement from the oem EK exhaust.

The 02-04 exhaust still allows 200 hp, so you know the flow is good up to that.

Looks to me like the 02-04 pic above is of a base model...

Guys, it's not even the size. The '02-'04 look ugly compared to the '05-'06.

Aco512 post pics of your ride in your other forum where we're talking about exhausts. I want to see how the sport lines look on your ride.

I am looking at getting rage headers which I am getting a very good deal on..I wanted to put something quiet so was thinking between getting a ws2,vibrant or a rsx-s muffler and have it bolted on to my buddy club piping..What do u guys think i should do, I would like it very quiet and sleeper look..Thanks for inputs

85mm sleeved block
-roller wave pistons and eagle rods
-type R head
-toda springs, haven't decided on retainers..

ws2...what is that apexi
a friend of mine that that on his 05 type-s
sounds really quiet but he says it feels like its more restrictive that his stock 05 exhaust
i haven't had experience personally, its just what he said
anyways, no cat on a b-motor
i would try to find a type-r muffler/axel back from a dc5
i believe they are slightly better that the 05-06
different opening from the chamber to the midpipe
looks stock, sound stock, good gains for a b-series

Good idea from Aco512. My buddy has the WS2 oh his civic with a gsr swap and he loves it cause it's so quiet. It looks nice on the car, but if you ever plan on turbo it won't be a good choice. My buddy is turboing his civic and he's going to sway the exhaust.

For my DC5 the skunk2 comes in 60mm and 70mm.
What are the benefits? Does it matter for naturaly aspirated type-s? What's the stock Type-S piping size?
I ask because I found a company that will sell me the, all 304 stainless skunk2 60mm exhaust, for $428.00 shipped.

i think stock type S is either 2.25 or 2.36. not sure. leaning more to the 2.36 though. 2.36=60mm. the skunk2 will be the same as most canister type exhausts. exhausts dont really give you that much whp without an RH. oh and for makavali, if you get the WS2, get the turbo universal version

Thanks man good to know. I know I won't gain much from just replacing the exhaust, but I want the sound and look mostly for now. From what I hear it sounds good too, but I'm not sure if it's angled or not.

I like the SP2 a lot, but it's got a big tip. Don't know if he'd like that.

ITR, SP2, & RS*R (Good choices)
