I think i am going to spray paint my side skirts on my VSM coupe but i want it to look good. I am looking for an explanation of how people have done theirs and a pic. I want to figure out the best method and materials

Primer It.

Paint It.

Clear Coat It.

And forget about it...

hmm i read through but thats pretty basic, not any real sanding or anything....im looking for a way that will get as close to OEM as i can

basically scuff the sideskirts with a ruff scuff pad and paint thinner (use thick rubber gloves) The thinner will soften the plastic and dry it out making the primer adhere better.

Wipe clean and lint free, spray light and even coats building up thickness upon the skirts. Once fully cured usually 3hrs in warm temps, evenly sand the sideskirt gently with 400grit until it is mostly smooth (the primer is to fill in the texture, while you level it out smooth by sanding yet not burn through), if you sand too hard or too much you will burn through the primer coat and will have to spray on another coat of primer.

wipe clean, lint free. Spray even coats of color paint (dupli-color work good). Once dry, apply even coats of clear, vioala finished

Note apply 2-3coats of primer atleast, use more if you need to get it smoother. Atleast 2 coats of color and atleast 2 coats of clear.
