Default F22b........ time to swap.

Well last week my motor decided to take a crap & now I gotta swap. Unfortunately.. I gotta keep it somewhat cheap. My current set up is a F22a SOHC non-vtec .... AUTO haha... I know that 's pretty bad huh.
Anyways... I can't afford to do what I REALLY wanna do, which is get an H22a with an Auto>Man. swap.
So instead of getting the same ol lil cute motor, I've decided to go with the 2.2L F22b DOHC non-vtec.

Does anyone have any reviews regarding this motor??

And does anyone have any PICS??

I've been told this motor is pretty much the same as the USDM H23.

Comments would be GREATLY appreciated... Thnx!

Ceasar

I believe that the F22b DOHC has lower tq numbers than the H23. Not sure about that, you should do a search about it.

agreed. the h23 is just a variant of the f22b with increased stoke. more tq as well.

No they are not the same, in fact no where near the same. The f22b does not have frm sleeves, and the rod/crank have diff connections to allow it to rev well past 8K as it was stock designed too. It's similar to a B series.

so which one would you go with?? Not really looking for something that's ganna be a high performance motor. Just looking for some fun & reliable. I know I'm more likely to find a JDM F22b with lower miles vs. a USDM H23.

Anyone have full specs on the F22b?? I've looked with no luck.

+1

Its pretty much a f22a block with a h23 head. Now we all know f22a's are boost friendly n it gets even better w/DOHC. I was leaning towards the f22b also but i needed my lude as a DD. To give u an idea, i know of somebody pushing around 250-300hp with a sohc f22a vtec n a dsm turbo set-up. Now imagine what that f22b+boost will do.

Ahhh I don't know what I was thinking I knew the DOHC VTEC F engine was 2.0 not 2.2. THe reason you can't find anything is because it's F20B, not f22b. Can't believe I missed that.

I am running a 2.3liter modified version of the JDM F22B but without all the boost BS. Details in sig.

It works fine for me at 200whp 183wtq. High compression and H23 cams will get you H22 swap equivalent power out of your DOHC F22B.

F22a does not have the vtec function. Yes a DSM junkyard setup will be good for it though.

^^ EEERRRR WRONG!....
F22a2 = SOHC 2.2L VTEC motor
F22a1 = SOHC non-vtec motor.

F22b = DOHC 2.2L non-vtec.
