WTF? Engine wont align properly w/ HCP kit. Need help!
i hate my friggin car, cant get the mounts to bolt up. Whats going on here guys? B18A1 if it makes any difference. What am I doing wrong?
did you modify the REAR crossmember? you have to bash it with a hammer. if you didn't then the rear motor mount bracket will be hitting the crossmember and the mounts won't line up.
If your car has ever been on an accident, the mounts could be a bit off.
I have seen it a buch of times.
This is how I install an engine in a CRX.
First get the back mount on, then put the tranny mount. then put the timing belt side mount. You might need to use a bar to move the engine to get the holes to line up. Then last if you are using a 4 mount kit, put the front mount in.
Hang the engine from the hoist, and use a couple of jacks under the engine to help you line it up.
Good luck.

Frame could be bent, has the car ever been hit?

I tried to get the rear mount on first when I did my motor. I did it totally wrong. I was trying to line up the other mounts at the SAME time.
Don't do this dude. Go in sequence, rear, tranny, drivers. It'll work.

where do i need to modify the rear crossmember? my mounts are about an inch and a half off in the back, the front mount will line up later and I cant even tell at this point on the driver's side
i didn't need to modify the rear member.. but bashing it would help.. you have to go rear mount, tranny mount, then driver mount.. if not it's not going to work.. and if it does it's going to be alot of work.. here is my motor with those mounts in..

make my mounts work!
