Default degreeing cams

was wondering could anyone who's fitted these cams help out
spec:
'96 jdm itr
buddy club spec3+ cams & .4mm h/g
buddy club cam pulleys
ARP studs
I/H/E
we have fitted the cams & have our dti gauge mounted & degree wheel on the crank & have tried using a compressor to engage vtec, it works on the exhaust cam but not on the intake, i've spoken to two different people, one assures me degreeing in these cams is absolutley neccesary & the other said no need,
the car idles as it stands all be it a little rough but we've ordered 310 injectors & Crome Pro to tune.

so is it absolutley neccesary or not??? anyone who can share first hand experience on these cams would be most helpfull

cheers for the link but i've read it before, i've done a lot of searching & came to the conclusion that the job needed to be done right so we got the degree wheel & dti gauge onto the block etc but as i've stated we could'nt get the intake vtec lobe to engage with the air compressor plumbed into the solenoid, (although the exhaust vtec lobe did)

in an act of desperation i rang buddy club usa to maybe get some help but they said there was no need to go to these lenghts, so i'm on here trying to get advice from someone who's actually fitted & tuned these cams to give me a definitive answer

I too called bc when I was degreeing mine in, they said I was wasting my time.

I would try using a ball bearing in the left most rocker to lock them in vtec. When your degreeing them, use the reco. valve lash (.008/.009 I think) instead of 0 lash to get the listed specs. I couldn't get the right centers until I did that. I don't know if their recomended lobe centers are worth a **** but we'll see.
