i just finish my setup with a comptech icebox and a bpi velocity stack..
For my filter element, i took one mushroom filter that fit over my 6 inch velocity stack..I have picture if people like the idea...

what about the recommended k&n filter? would that even fit inside the icebox? noticeable difference? thanks

The box is not clean but you get the idea...

you can see the bpi stack from behind

still a lot of place inside the comptech box.You can not put a k&n filter inside the comptech icebox that fit on the bpi stack...

there was another thread somewhere about the bpi + k&n FITTING inside a mugen intake. anybody remember it?

that was with a carbon fiber velocity stack...

Here's an idea, instead of putting on that velocity stack and covering it with a foam type filter you can probaby do an Injen filter.

Most people don't know that the Injen air filter has a built in velocity stack. The info can be found here: http://www.injen.com/docs/prod...cc=af

I am pretty sure you can find a specified Injen air filter size that would work or fit into that icebox.

The foam filter that comes in the Comptech Ice Box has a radiused bottom/ velocity stack built into it's filter as well.

I also heard that the HKS mushroom filter also has a very similar velocity stack designed on them already so no need to purchase the velocity stack then find a filter to fit over them.

Anyone know this??

hks and greddy have a small velocity stack inside their foam filters.

people we all know that these velocity stack are nothing compared to the bpi one..I wanted to use a great velocity stack that have a real r&d on it....Akimoto filer have some kind of a velocity stack in it too..The comptech one have cheap version of a velocity stack too.I just wanted to try something else

Interesting way of using the stack, I probably would just run the stack with some stockings or such over it.

just a thought but wouldnt something right on or very near the surface of the bpi stack actually hurt its whole purpose? isnt the purpose of the stack to actually funnel in an area of air around it and actually let it roll in on every milimeter of it surface?

a k&n filter would allow air to be built up inside the actual filter and still roll in the bpi

but if you put something right on the bpi's surface it seem that it would slow the flow of air down that should be already be built up and just easily rolling into the stack?

does anyone follow me?

i konw what your mean too..Look in a hks filter he have a velocity stack close to the filter element.Time will tell if this setup will work well in the street and on the dyno.

Would that stack and K&N Filter set-up not work in an icebox or it the size of the filter too large?

wouldn't it be better to just stick the BPi stack where the comptech stack used to be? As in, behind the corner light (DC2 app.) and have it draw air like that into the airbox?

im probably mistaken, but i under the impression that the stack was supposed to affect the air moving into throttle body, so the optimal place would be connected to the arm...?

you're not mistaken at all, in fact I'm pretty sure it would be most effective attached to the arm as well....but given that it doesn't fit inside the stock comptech box with the proper K&N filter, the second best alternative would be attaching it to where the comptech airhorn/flowstack would normally reside.

Since BPi designed it (with all sorts of math that I won't pretend to understand ), I'm sure there will be some sort of performance optimization...nonetheless it's just speculation on my part - which I would love to have somebody dyno verify of course
