Looking for good speakers 110watts rms at 2ohms
Components for the front and 2 ways/midbasses for the back. I know the kappas are but do you know of any others that have real sq? Thanks, they don't have to be exactly 110watts rms, just no more than that. Or 55watts rms at 4 ohms.

image dynamics makes some 2ohm component sets i believe. i would also recomment putting the midbass drivers up front.
just curious as to why you're shopping by power specs?

Components sets come with midbasses...
The amp I bought to power my sub, has 5 channels, and those are the specs of the amp because I'm going to amp my speakers. Also: the speakers can be 55rms into 4 ohms.

thanks for the tip but they dont come with midbass drivers unless you go with a 3way component set. What i was suggesting is to install your component set in the front and then add the midbass drivers to the front stage too. you shouldnt have any speakers behind you.

Interesting. Why is this? Doesn't it have something to do with sound stage/dynamics or something? Also: Do you have a link to a information database about speakers? As in the materials of the speaker and the materials' affect on sq? Thanks for the info btw.

well primarily you have to look at how the music is recorded. cd's are stereo meaning left and right. when you start playing the information recorded on the left channel from a source in front of you and behind you the information becomed confusing. some people thinks this is cool and its "surround sound" these people are morons. what you will not have is good center focus and a nice wide soundstage. you can also look at it like this. why spend X amount of money on 2 sets of components when you can spend that same amount on one set of components and get something thats much higher quality. theres a bunch of reasons why you would opt not to put in rear speakers but to list them would take days.

nope. i dont know if such a thing could exist. for example, pioneer has speakers made of kevlar, so does B&W but they by no means sound the same. theres a ton of factors that affect how a speaker performs. the only way to shop is just to listen to them. i mean you wouldnt buy a tv without looking at the picture quality.

I'll be buying my speakers off the internet because no one carries the stuff I want. All they have are alpine, eclipse and pioneer. Nothing of superior sound quality like infinity or mb quart or nakamichi ... so I was just looking for opinions.

if the larger driver in a 2-way comp set plays midbass frequencies (commonly know as 80Hz-250Hz in a car) - then you can call them midbasses - no need to play semantics

but in theory and to avoid confusion wouldnt it be a midrange speaker? i mean a midbass speaker is only going to play that narrow range and when people talk about midbass its usually a dedicated driver.

About $200 on the front components. Less is always good.
Just for clarification, a set like this: http://www.onlinecarstereo.com...15366
I don't suppose there's any way I could wire a set of speakers to a 2 ohm load without screwing up the channels right?

Looks to me like you have found a set of 2 ohm components for under $200.

PS I assume tuo have an am that is 110W into 2 ohms and 55W into 4 ohms.

FYI: Alpine > Infinity. I've extensively listened to both, but thats just my preference.

I do.
Anyone know anything about the orion components that are the 3ohms?
