So my daily driver is an 02' Tahoe LT with chrome bumpers and grill. I would like to paint the bumpers and grill - but seeing as I know nothing about body work I don't know if I can paint them and have the paint stick for more than a couple months.

So paint/body guys - can you paint over chrome and have it last? If so, what kind of prep work would be involved? I can't imagine I could do anything really as far as sanding. Maybe just scuff it enough that I could get the primer to catch.

Please advise if anyone knows about painting over chrome pieces (preferably more experience than just painting an old set of wheels)
