Default Red H Emblem...

Hey,

Just wondering who here has installed the red H [rear]. I got my stock one off but I realized that the red H has pegs that wont line up with the holes on the car. Is this normal?

Just one? It seems like none of them fit but I'm not sure. I guess I could just break'em both off and let the tape do it's job.

How does the front one work? Is it the same deal or does it actually fit?

front's the same deal. you may want to sand the two little nipples so that the emblem can sit flush. same for the rear.

I got the rear one on this morning. I "sanded" down the pegs and now it "fits" fine

Took my grill off earlier, it's sitting right here so I'll get the front one on in a few

Sounds painful.

I'm thinking about getting some red H's for mine, I'm just not sure how it'll look on VBP.

I never sanded down the front grill for the install. You may want to double check. I just added a couple of peices of 3M double sided tape and it worked fine. The front emblem doesn't fit like the oem one, it seems to be a bit smaller, so just center it and no one should be able to tell the difference

Just curious, on the rear emblem did you remove the wiper assembly and all that, or did you just happen to get to it from underneath?

For the rear I tried to remove all the wiper stuff and take out the whole piece but after I got the wiper motor off I couldn't pop out the clips... so I just took a credit card and slipped it under the H and then broke it off with a knife. Worked like a charm.

For the front, I sanded down the grill and i got the emblem centered fine but for some reason I think it's going to come off. Just doesnt feel like its fully on there. I think I need some glue or something. Doesnt the 3M tape keep it from sitting flush on the grill?

I used extra 3M tape for the rear and the front. It's been 5 months since I put them on and they're still holding up.

And for others intersted in doing this mod it the future, there's an easier way to remove the rear emblem. All you have to do is open the hatch and look up to where the hatch handle and the licence plate lights are located. You'll see the pegs for the emblem. get a flat head screw driver and put the tip of it to one of the clips then smack the bottom of the screwdriver. This will break the peg. Repeat for the other peg then your done. Easy as that.

Did the same thing as you. No removing panels or windshield wiper motors. SMACK and done! Note: This was for the rear emblem.

$35 each at icbmotorsport.com

Make sure you call first to see if they're in stock. I had to wait 2 weeks after ordering online.

Anyone got some close up pics of the front emblem installed?
Also, is the double sided tape that comes with the emblem enough to hold it or is more necessary?
Any pointers on how to remove the front emblem?

Since it'll be about 80 degrees here today, I'll probably wash my car. If I do I'll take a picture of the emblem for you

btw, I didn't have to use anything else to stick the emblem on there. I was kind of nervous about it at first but it seems to be holding on quite well... for the time being.

Not sure if the double sided tape on the emblem was enough or not but I diddn't want to find out by it just falling off, or "disappearing" on me.

When I removed my front OEM emblem, I just used a flat head screwdriver to pry it off. I wrapped the screw driver in a shop towwel though so not to scratch the plastic behind the emblem.

hope this helps

I just used a credit card type object [I used an old gift card] You might break the edges of the card so be careful which card you use. I just put the card under a corner of the emblem and worked the card under the whole side of the emblem. They rip off quite easily.
