Default Why is my Car running rich ???

I have a 90 Si Hatch, A6/Z6 Mini-me using all the A6 fuel delivery and intake components. Just switched to a Z6 head, gasket, belt, and camgear. I can't get the thing to quit smoking, At first I thought it was burning oil so I tore it apart and replaced all the valve seals.. The compression on the engine is 170 in all cylinders. It is not using any oil or coolant. It does not seem to smoke at idle but pours out the black/brown smoke when revved up. I had a bad ECU so I got another PM6 out of an 88 Si wich I'm assuming is the same.... What do I do now?? Keep throwing parts at it? The air filter is new, I tried running it without the 02 sensor plugged in to see if that made a difference. Do I try a fuel filter ? New 02 sensor? My plugs all look like this

Replace your O2 sensor and plugs. Are your vacuum lines routed properly?

No codes.. Just replaced the 02 sensor and put in new plugs. Still no change.

I would say that the timing is fucked up causing it to run rich. My timing is retarded three degrees and I am running a little rich. Maybe you're even more off than that,

I set ignition timing with the wires jumped like the manual says. Its dead on. Cam timing is also perfect. I have checked both it seems like a thousand times.. I dunno. I"m going to drive the car tomarrow and see if it gets any better..

your plugs give you a snapshot of time. make sure you engine is warmed up all the way and and drive it then pull the plugs.

Yes I understand to best way to do the mini me is with the correct ecu. Or you can do it ghetto and use a rpm activated switch. Still would not make the car run rich. But who knows.
