Default Air conditioning A/C booster

I went to AutoZone and purchase A/C booster my a/c doesn’t blow out that much cold and its ******* hot around here. The instructions say that I need to locate the a/c port between the a/c compressor and the vaporizer. I am trying to add this to a civic 92 hb

Find the blue cap on your condenser.

coonect it to the low only!!! its the black one. it has the letter "L" on top of the cap. lock the cap, blast up the a/c and press the button and release the freon and voila..done!!!

Hey is the connector the same because I unscrew the black cap off and try to put the Freon cap on and its way to big. I think I got the wrong connection the Freon connection it’s like the air hose you pull back and click

You sprayed yourself in the eye with Freon?

Um .... you might want to go flush your eyes with a hose for like 5 minutes.

Indeed...

Anyways, you obviously have a 92 or 93 Civic. This means your A/C system uses the older R-12 CFC Freon, and NOT the 1994+ mandated R-134 HFC that you've already purchased. Unfortunately for you, R-12 was phased out in 94 and it's illegal to buy/sell the stuff unless your a licensed A/C repair facility (plus it will cost you your left nut).

Since your A/C system isn't working well any longer, you should just go and have it converted to R-134 and get the leak fixed. You cant really do it yourself since all the system oil must be drained due to the fact that R-12's oil isn't compatible with R-134 refrigerant. Also, the R-12 that is still inside your system must be recovered so it doesn't go into the atmosphere and continue to deplete the Ozone.

I think it cost me $120 to get it done professionally on my CRX...

PS: You shouldn't use anything but basic refrigerant to "top-off" an A/C system. This includes the cans that say it contains "compressor oil" in it. Leak stoppers can plug up expansion valves, and the system must have the compressor oil added in exact amounts (too much is bad)...

If you replace the compressor and expose the system to atmosphere, you have to replace the receiver-dryer as well (manditory). Otherwise you end up with moisture in the system. Also you must add the required amount of oil stated in the manual to both the receiver-dryer AND the compressor before can install them. Then the entire system MUST be completely vacuumed free of air & checked for leaks. Then the PROPER amount of refrigerant indicated in the shop manual must be added to the system. Keep in mind you can only tell how much you've added by weighing the cans before and after since they never completely empty into the system. Then a performance test should be conducted to make sure there are no other problems like a clogged expansion valve, condenser or evaporator. Opening the system should be left to professionals...

PS: No! One can will not fill the system...

ill just take it to the shop then ... sounds like to much work and i dont want to mess anything up .. is there anyway of replacing the compressor without having to replace the dryer-reciever ?

Nope. The receiver dryer is a "one time" use item. It has a desiccant that pulls any trace amounts of moisture from a properly vacuumed system. Once you open the system again, you let in additional moisture that the "used" desiccant is unable to absorb...

94eg is right, i forgot that you said you got a 92 hatch. get it converted to 94+ so it can take the r134. spend that $150 so you stay cool!!!

Hey 94eg! My a/c is fine I just wanted to boost the a/c I want more cold air to come out I was thinking of taking it to the a/c repair shop and adding a better Freon do they have better Freon or is they’re only one kind. I am looking for a better Freon that will cool faster and blows out cooler air than what I already have……… because it’s ******* hot here in socal hahaha

Sorry but there isn't REALLY any "better" refrigerant than R-12 (it's all BS on that bottle). Since your A/C system works pretty well, you probably just need to go get it topped off by a professional (since you can't purchase R-12 yourself). It shouldn't cost too much since you said it's already blowing cold (just not cold enough). This means there is still plenty of R-12 in the system...

PS: It is possible to add too much refrigerant, so never top-off your own R-134 system without using a connector hose with a color coded pressure gauge...

I don't know. They sell refrigerant by weight, so it just depends on how much you need to get the high & low pressures into range...
