I have a 1995 Honda Accord with a factory radio that works intermittently. The radio will always turn on, the display is always lit but the sound and the full functionality of the radio such as search do not always work. In fact they almost never work upon start up. They will turn on later and sometimes I can hit it or push on the radio through the slot below it and cause it to work.

I would really like to fix this. Anybody have any experience with this? I found a webpage that mentions this problem and say they will fix it for ~$100 which implies to me this is not an isolated problem but must have been a problem with all radios of these models? IF possible I would like to do it myself.

sounds like faulty wires possibly. just pull out the deck and check the wires behind it. if anything why not just get an aftermarket deck.
